Brief Synopsis: This story tracks 20 years in the lives of the Forsytes, an affluent family from London. Soames Forsyte’s loveless marriage to Irene is the focal point of the first chunk of this epic.
Good Points: Love, list, sorrow, despair, anger and pain mingle with dramatic consequences – it’s like a soap opera but not so chavvy.
Bad Points: It’s a hefty tome and some of the politics mentioned are outdated and dull.
Good For: A satisfying read and a look of smugness when you finish it.
